Capitol Prayer is a new program the Christian Law Association is launching for 2009. Please begin to pray now about participating in this important effort to beseech God to intervene and save America from the destructive cultural influences in our land. While our attorneys continue to fight in our nation’s courtrooms for religion and morality in America, we realize that the legal tide is turning against us. We believe that without God’s return to our courtrooms, our nation cannot long survive.

Capitol Prayer is a CLA-led initiative to cover our nation with prayer, extending out from our nation’s capitol, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. This initiative will be launched on January 1, 2009. We are telling you about this new program now so that you and your church will have some lead time to plan how you can become involved.

We have determined that the time is growing short and we must act now. For many years, CLA has been considering a prayer initiative in our nation’s capitol with a serious and focused purpose of beseeching God to bless and restore our land.

The Bible clearly tells us that in times of trial, prayer is essential. The Bible also clearly tells us: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16. CLA is issuing a call for righteous men, women and children from all across our nation to gather and focus symbolically in our nation’s capitol as a 24/7 serious prayer initiative.

CLA is taking office space in our nation’s capitol on Pennsylvania Avenue about five blocks from the Capitol and five blocks from the White House. Our plan is to coordinate church mission trips to Washington D.C. for focused prayer, as well as civic education. We want you and your church to be part of this mission to save America. We will be praying 24/7 for 365 days during 2009 for America’s leadership and for God’s will in our nation. This Capitol Prayer initiative is intended to be 100% non-political and 100% spiritual. We are also beginning to plan for a special prayer rally in Washington, D.C. during the summer of 2010.

The D.C. office where the prayer initiative will take place will be staffed 24/7. We are seeking church groups from across America to plan mission trips to our nation’s capitol during 2009 to pray for America on Capitol Hill in six-hour shifts. Each church should plan to bring prayer warriors, including at least two adults in each group, for one week. We are hoping to have four churches participate each week in six hour shifts around the clock. During the times the group is not spending in prayer, we will encourage them to take sightseeing trips around the Washington area.

Any group in your church could profit from this experience. Think about your youth groups, senior citizen groups, men, or families who want to vacation together. We invite you all to join us for a week during 2009 and then to return with others to a summer 2010 prayer rally, for which we hope to gather thousands of dedicated American Christians and prayer warriors to collectively beseech God to heal our land.
